Are you guys actually saying that a 15k generator... or solar panels... or electronics would DECREASE the value you would pay for a boat??? I am not believing what I am reading. That is insane. My solar completely runs my boat, off the hook. How much does that cost you in a slip in electricity every month?? My bill, every month when plugged in was 50-75/month. Now that was with a/c or heating set high, but still.
I cannot believe I read that. Sorry. I don't buy that.
At any rate, here are real numbers you can deal with:
1) Mastervolt 3.5 KW installed: $15,000.
2) Air Conditioner, 16k btu and seperate 12k btu, installed: ~$7,000.
3) Kato Davits, I installed: ~$2000 (I think... been a while, but close enough).
4) Solar Array. This include 4-Kyocera 130W panels, Ouback MX60 MPPT, and solar arch. I installed. ~$6,500.
5) Refrigeration is standard on most boats... I would throw a very wild guess of about $3,000. However, I would not factor that into it unless it was an option. Most boats today it is standard.
6)
Chartplotter. The
Chartplotter, not installed, is about $1,500 ish by the time you add in wire, etc. That is not an expandable unit. You can check the exact prices on Sailnet or any other outfitter of your choice. However, jumping to an expandable unit (like going from
Raymarine C series to E series) is ballpark another grand. This does not include the wind/depth/speed. This does not include
radar... about $1,500 for 2kw dome, non-level.
At any rate, those are real numbers and real items. I have tried to tell you the things I am not positive about. In fact, I would not be suprised if the cost of these items have increased due to inflation... but I have not checked and have no interest in doing so.
If this is to sell your boat, plan on losing about 1/2 the value... ballpark. However, it all depends on how the boat was kept and size, etc.
Regarding being something that decreases value, I find that rediculous. Maybe if you put all that crap on a Sunfish??? But if you can get all that stuff for free or at a good deal and you think it is junk - you can rip it out and sell it for good money.
