best boat design for nasty chop

I will be moving to coastal N. Carolina. The
Pamlico Sound and Neuse River can have a nasty chop. What boat design parameters minimize these conditions (keel type, displacement, L:B, deadrise and overhangs, etc). Secondly, does anyone have recommendations on specific boats that meet
these parameters. I am a coastal cruising
sailor, usually just two of us sailing, desire a 32 ft boat in 100K range. I sail
weekends and a couple week long trips/yr.
thanks.

Aloha Dan S,

You should look for a beautiful Bristol Channel Cutter. My Aloha and I sail the Chesapeake Bay where the chop is serious. She is a wonderful little yacht. The best.

Check out Sam L. Morse

http://www.geocities.com/bccowners/

and the Bristol Channel Cutter Owners Asso. accessed from the site.

I''d be happy to share my experience with chop!
