What kind of boat is this?

also do you think it would be a fun boat or should I check out a Hobie cat 16?
This is half the price of the Hobie (500 vs 900) and the Hobie is a little closer. I have a International Tempest but that is going to need a lot of work before it gets splashed. I want something I can sail to remind me why I am doing all that work on the Tempest. One is about a 4/12 hour drive away and one is 6, with the price of gas it costs me 200+ to drive down for the dingy.
Thanks

Umm... with the photos the size of a postage stamp, it is really hard to say what the boat is...

Yeah apparently I am not doing a good job with this whole internet thing. Those tubes they use must not be working right
Trying to post bigger pictures but now it is just turning them into links. Unfortunately even the "bigger" pictures are small and that is all there is in the ad

A better view of the sail logo, properly oriented, would help also. Looks like a jester's hat now, but who knows when flattened and turned.

I looked in this useful PDF file, but didn't see any logo that could be the one in the second photo.

Sail logo is wrong for either of those though.

Go with the Hobie 16, whatever that mono is. You won't regret it!
p.s. I thought it was a FJ, too.

Thanks for the replies.
The wooden transom I thought might be a clue for some folks. The guy who is/was selling it does not know what it is since the guy before him repainted it. He said "Maybe a Larson or something". I thought maybe Laser but it does not look like one I have ever seen.
Thanks again for the help

Definitely not a Laser. It looks a bit like an FJ but I think it might be a Petrel. Hard to tell from the sail logo. it doesn't exactly match my recollection... They were popular about 40 years ago. Probably still a lot of them around. Regardless, I would take it over a Hobie, unless I lived somewhere that the water was very warm.
