You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Thanks
Marcvet,

Others covered most of the practical considerations. As for extra storae costs, the only time you'd pay extra for storage is if you're in a slip or on the hard. There should be no additional cost for moorage.

One aspect not mentioned, is that the sprit is a FUN place to lounge when sailing, especially off the wind on a nice reach. If you have kids, the value of that alone will be priceless!!

Also, you may be aware, but some of the Crealock 34s are equipped with a short sprit/anchor platform, about 2 feet in length. This is the same sprit that comes standard on all Crealock 31s. PSC began offering it as an option on the 34 in the early '90's. A major benefit is that the anchors are held further out over the water, improving handling and helping to avoid dinging/chipping the topsides with an errant anchor. Another advantage is that the sailplan is better balanced, and the slot between headsail and staysail is larger.
