San Juan 28

I am looking for any info on the San Juan 28''s. I am a beginning sailor who would probably be doing a lot of single-handing. When I have help it will be my wife who is still a little skittish about sailing and about heeling.
Are these sturdy, good-sailing boats? What kind of problems have they developed with age? What should I know before buying one? Thanks for the help.

San Juan 28

I have owned a San Juan 30 for the last 4 years. I have raced and cruised the boat. So far I have had no problems except the window and hatch leaks. Which are now fixed. The boats are well built and perform well. If you want some more info check out www.sanjuan28-29.com

San Juan 28

The San Juan was made out here in the Seattle area by the Clark Boat Company. It enjoyed a very big following on the west coast for many years.
Like so many of the sailboat companies, it fell on hard times and went under. The SJ 28 is a fine boat that sails very well. It was set up with hand layed glass and had very few problems. There is still a large fleet around with a good re-sale market. If the price is right and its in good condition, I would jump at a 28. It is also a boat that can be single handed very easily, and from the way you describe your wife, she well probably be a passenger rather than crew....lots of us have it that way too.
