Where are you going to use the boat?, What is your budget? Why do you want a "pocket" cruiser?

I have been sailing a Catalina 25 for the past 4 years on a small lake. Geronimo is very comfortable, easy to singlehandle, built tough, sleeps 2 well, and trailerable. I am also looking to find a boat that I can take on the road for extended cruises. The O''day 25 may fit the ticket. The shoal keel will be an aid to gunkholing. Most sailing has been on the Mississippi River. There I have a Venture 23 Newport. The weighted swing keel when sailing the river is very forgiving and alows beaching, something very important for the kids. Good luck on your search.

I had a Beneteau 235, which is in that range, wing keel version (tiller). The boat
was exceptionally tender and it was difficult
to leave the helm even with a tiller-tamer.
Still, it had the Catalina 22 beat, big time.

The next level up was the Beneteau 26+. That
was not worth the money...might as well get a
285 or go for the more reasonably priced
Catalina 25. The 285 is a much better boat in my opinion than the 25 but its also a newer boat. Some of the 25 owners I''ve run
into have changed hardware (improved) and
added some items to the interior.

My xwife (amazine how that happens to sailors) wouldn''t go near any boat with a
porta-potty and some privacy.

Good luck. Jim S.
