I am very pleased with mine. I own Hull #84 and sail the Chesapeake Bay out of a marina in Back Creek, Annapolis. I moved up for a Catalina 22, so this was a major upgrade in all respects.
She handles well in all conditions, and will do 7 knots when motoring at 2,800 rpms and when sailing in 15-20 knots, and better than 6 knots in 10-12 knots close-hauled. She also does suprising well in light air, although better with the cruising
spinnaker I purchased as an option. With autohelm, an electric
winch option for the main (also great for going aloft), and all controls led aft, she''s very easy to sail short-handed. I like to sail at night also, and have
GPS,
radar, and color
chartplotter.
Very roomy below, two nice-sized berths fore and aft, comfortable head with separate shower stall. I opted for a third water tank, giving me about 120 gallons of water. Engine is 35HP Universal with 39-gallon tank and
fuel consumption to date is between 0.6 and 0.7 gallons per hour.
She is a very beamy boat--13 feet. This allows for a very roomy cockpit and the very roomy main cabin. I opted for the wing keel, with a 4.5 foot draft. She has lots of freeboard, which was an object of scorn among the critics on this board back when the model was first introduced (January 2002). I choose to look at the beam and freeboard as providing a lot of stability and comfort, especially in heavy air. My wife is very happy with the smooth ride in the occasional 3-4-foot seas we get in the Bay.
My dealer, Sail Annapolis, was very easy to work with, and has been very responsive to the items on my "punch" list following our walk-through and shakedown.
