1969 C&C Redwing 30 Deck/Hull Joint

I refurbished my 1969 C&C Redwing last year. I found the deck to hull joint was a big source of water down below. I completely removed the rub rail to expose the joint and found the rub rail was acting as a gasket between the deck and hull joint. The cost of a new rub rail was too great and it would have put back a system that had failed. So I chose to eliminate the joint with fiberglass and epoxy. I feel this has given the boat new life and comfort for me and my passengers.

Has anyone else had problems with their deck to hull joint? I expect most Redwing owners must have this issue.
