Sailormann,
I owned a 1976 C&C 30 II for about six years back in the '80s. That is a great boat, we did a lot of racing with her and as long as we got the right end pointed forward, she did quite well. The boat is an absolute pleasure in a big breeze, very stiff. I think the only design changes during its life were raising the boom a foot in 1977 and switching to diesels around 1980. Be sure to get involved with the C&C email group, and feel free to PM with anything specific.

I wouldn't mind having another one some day...

I know its been a while for this thread, but i am buying one this week. Just sold my Sonic 23'. What a buyers market out there!!!!

The one I am looking at has a Yanmar Diesel with less then 30 hours. Harken roller furling, barient self tailing winches and more.

The one thing they did do is raise the boom when they installeed the wheel.

It looks kinda whacked. i realize they upgraded this on the 1977 models.

Maybe Ill drop it down.

You could contact Dana Hunter in Tatamagouche. He has worked on a few of them. The other thing to do could be to call Jamie Kernaghan at North Sails in Halifax. He could give you the exact height of the original mainsail measurement. You could then measure yours from the top of the mast down. That would give you an idea on gooseneck placement.

Where do you keep the boat Walter? Cape George?

Thanks Yes I'm walter from Cape George. I'll start by saying I'm a new member to Sailnet and this e-mail thing. So I have no idea if you will ever get this. Please let me know. Maybe I'll run into you at the boat show. I'll be there on Saturday. If not see you at the Cove next summer.

I have an 89 C&C Mk. II

New to this forum and learning my way around. We purchased a C&C Mk. II two years ago and have a wonderful time sailing it. It has taken us up the coast of British Columbia to where we live in Prince Rupert. The sailing here is amazing and our boat is everything we want it for when it comes to sailing. However, we have had to replace 3 starter motors so far and the last one has just started to act up. We have replaced everything else from switches to batteries and leads. We start the engine as directed and about half the time everything works as it should, then when it is really needed, the starter solenoid will engage, but not the gearing or the gear will engage but there is not enough umph in the starter to turn the engine. The decompression switches work fine and we have no issues with the engine itself.
In reading other forums, I have not had any answers and I have followed all advice given, but I am getting a bit frustrated. If anyone else can suggest something, I would appreciate it. (Thanks in advance.)
Other than that - the C&C 30 Mk. II has been one of the most fun boats I have ever sailed.

Hi Sailor Greg,
Mine isn't for sale but there are a few on Yachtworld. There is a recently posted 1990 fresh water one on there that looks like it has been well loved. If inquiring about any C&C's, the cncphotoalbum.com is a great site well worth visiting.

Cabin Sole Question

Allan, you mentioned that you replaced your cabin sole, back in 2006. I have a C&C 30 MKI, and am wondering how much work it is to take out, loosen up the bench, bulkheads enough to get to the floor parts that need to be removed for a complete R & R? Any advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Jim, the floor that I replaced was in my old boat, a 29 Mk II. On that boat it was pretty straight foward, I took out all of the pieces and used them as a template to router cut the new ones. After the pieces were cut I flipped them upside down and routered the edges round so that they would fit easily into the fibreglass floor pan.
Are you sure that the floor on your 30 Mk I goes under the bulkheads and benches? I've seen this before on an early 80"s Hunter 34 but I didn't think C&C's were made that way.

Rob,

I'm just ending my third season racing J24's here on the Hudson in New York and cruising Long Island Sound on my friends Beneteau 33. Between this last season and the winter though all I could think about was my dream starter boat, an 88/89 C&C 30 MK2 found after long nights of sailboat porn surfing.

I kept running into your posts as an owner and I thought I'd reach out. I'm wanting to single hand (I'm a writer who likes his alone time and loves the water) and have a boat that I can race and cruise with limited crew (not a fan of sailing with six people on a boat). Coming into last season I saw some C&C's for 15k-20k but a few more popping now but all 25k+. Do you think as the owner of this gorgeous boat model that it's a good starter boat or would you recommend something less expensive?

I just cant get over the lines of it though and the interior is exactly what I like.

Would love to stay in touch with you as an owner of my dream model and hear your thoughts on owning one!

Martin
