c & c port light leaks help

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a 1979 38 landfall with major leaks on the port lights. I installed new Lexan last year but I have a feeling I used the wrong sealant. I am getting ready to pull them back and reseal after I bevel the edges against the hull. Does anyone have a sealant I should use? I am thinking of using Sikiflex 291. This seems to matain the best flexability. I have had the boat just over a year and love it. I can be found sailing Puget Sound.

Go to a glass shop and get some Butyl tape. My boat is 25 yrs old and everything was bedded with Butyl. It is still flexible, and fortunatly the person who installed it did a great job. It can get a little messy, but anything can be. Mask your ports, and the surrounding area, clean area and part well, and work slow. If you take your time and do it right, it will be the last time you will have to do it for a very long time.

in the 70's most c&c's had windows with frames,im not sure about the landfall although in 78 most of their boats had changed into the modern look.
if they have frames they will require new lexan,butyl tape and the replacement seals.easier assembled off the boat and then sealed with thin butyl when fastened back on.
if they are the lexan type that are bonded to the deck than you can use the sikiflex.
the thing youll need to figure out is how to press them down long enough for the silicone to cure or the windows will not sit flush and start to leak.
on my freinds 30 footer we used suction cups on either side with a piece of spring steel that kept tension on the lexan until the silicone dried.we used an automotive grade urethane to bond them(cant remember the name of the stuff we used,but it worked real good and 2 years later they still dont leak).

3M Ultra Glaze sealed the windows on my 83'C@C 24. Should do the same for your port lights.

Hey thanks for the replies. hopefully I can get them resealed before the rain starts falling next month. I do not have frames around the port lights just a channel in which the window is recessed into. the flange is only about 1/2 inch wide so the tape method may not work.
