Anyone going to the C&C reunion at Thetis Island?

As above really, any C&C owners heading to the C&C meetup at Telegraph Harbour, Thetis Island August 5-7th? Just trying to decide if it's worth the trip really, especially given that it's much further than we've ever been on the boat so far

You should definitely go... it's not a long trip, will give you a chance to widen your boundaries and on top of that you'll meet lots of people with good information and that all love C&Cs. On top of that local brokers and vendors often put on seminars and talks - there's usually a pretty full program at these things.

It's a nice harbour, the marina owners are very helpful and outgoing... do it. You won't regret it.

Stop in at Genoa Bay or Maple Bay on the way up. Samsun Narrows can be transited at any time.

Time to explore in the new boat.

Problem is of course the inevitable crappy weather. I'm quite happy pottering along in the peeing rain. The Admiral isn't so impressed

Actually August will in all probability be just fine. The biggest 'deal' is most likely to be lack of wind.

Last year's spring was just as crappy as this, maybe not so cold, but wetter.... come July 1st somebody threw a switch... I think we had 2 or 3 days of cloud/showers between then and September.

Remember there is a water shortage on most of the Gulf Islands in the summer - lack of rain.

I will have to try and convince the Admiral. She's not keen. Furthest we've been so far is to Sidney spit, and the May long weekend was actually the first time we have ever slept on the boat. It was rather scary!

Unfortunately Calypso (1970 C&C 43) will be somewhere around Barkley Sound on its way back from going around Vancouver Island that weekend so I will miss this year's meetup. Where ever we are on the 5th I will hoist a cold drink and slap some beef on the BBQ as a show of support.

I am going around July 20 to August 4. I will look for you.

I will be on Sea Biscuit (Saga 409).

If you have never been up that way, Telegraph Hbr is clean and well managed. I would love to go but our plans are to be in the Gulf Islands the last two weeks of July so, unfortunately, we'll just miss it.

If you do plan on sailing, pick up a current chart book along with the Washburne's tables. it will be about $30 well spent. That way you can time your transit so the current will help not hinder. Ganges is also well worth the stop. Eat at the Treehouse cafe.
