Just looking at the helm layout on your boat Sailer I can see it's easy to handle and stay behind the wheel.

..
My experience with biminis over the helm is that they provide very limited sun protection, and that for only the helmsman and are basically not worth the effort. Their shade footprint is just too small.

Yes, my feeling also... but at this point I just don't know what else to do except dress up like it's 40 below in the middle of summer. I just have to stay out of the sun. I've already had my turn at cancer... don't want a repeat.

You can still sail solo with the traveller on the cabintop.
I use a German main sheet system, and can control the main main sheet and traveller from behind the wheel.

Then dive in and move the traveler, it is not a sophisticated change. I often single hand boats where the mainsheet or the jib sheets are not accessible from the helm, and you can do so quite well, just not as convenient as having both come to hand at the helm. My last personal boat for ten years had a cabintop mainsheet and it's location was a minor inconvenience at most.

I think you will find a full cockpit bimini a wonderful addition, as I discovered when my last boat happened to came equipped with such. I would never again go cruising without one..

Hey old sailer. I know what you mean about the skin cancer. I have to go have a squamous carcinoma removed in a couple weeks. I have been looking to move the traveler on my boat too. I have a Mirage 24 (C&C design). The traveler blocks the companionway. I cant mount it above the cabin b/c my solar panel is mounted there. I have seen some cabin mounts watching C&Cs on Youtube. I have also heard of people building an extension on the boom and mounting the traveler to the transom. Just some thoughts. Wear the sunscreen brother!!

Been there myself.. I hope your carcinoma(s) is small. Be careful from now on. The little buggers can come back.

I hadn't thought of the transom.. that's an idea too.
