Boomkicker provides boom lift but no vanging action.... rigid vang does both. So when pricing factor in all the necessary parts (though you can reuse an existing tackle vang with a boomkicker)

Rigid vang will be more expensive, but should prove to be the better value in the long run. Check with Garhauer for one.

I have a boom kicker mainly because they are less expensive. The major down fall is that when some one is furling the main they tend to lean on the boom and it will not support them. OK if you are expecting it but can be a "let down" otherwise.
