Depth Transducer on a 1987 Cabo Rico 38
We have just changed out our depth transducer located in the horizontal cutaway section of the forefoot. The old one and the new one are bronze and look exactly the same. When we bought the boat 5 years ago there was no fairing over the old transducer. As with the old one, the bronze "head" of the new one extends about 1 inch below the horizontal cutout section. The bronze "head" of the transducer is round (about 2 inches in diameter by 1 inch in depth). No fairing came with the new transducer. Our question is: Do we need this fairing to protect the transducer even though it is in a "protected location in the boat" ie. the flat cutout section in the forefoot.
Any advice would be appreciated.
