Mine is a '75 Cal 2-29 and as far as I know, the gear/throttle installation were standard. The levers are mounted on the stbd lazarette below the cover
hatch, so you have to reach down a bit to operate them. Yours may be a modification taking them to the pedestal for easy reach. Having said that, the 'standard' set up has two separate cables - one trans, one throttle. removing and replacing is no problem. When you say 'attached' do you mean they are just bound together? If so detach both at both ends, tie on a messenger
line, pull all through, make repairs, re-thread with messenger
line - should work.
That is the way I replaced the original set up with the more handy pedestal mounted levers.
