Sea Fevers Cal 29 Beam of Death is OUT

Getting ready to cut the liner after demoing the head area the Fein 250Q was a big disappointment as it took the dam thing 4 minutes to cut 4' of 5/16 thick fiberglass

The CAL CURSE galvanized steel mast support

Then the mother of all PITAs the 3 steel tabs behind the bulkheads BUT the Sawzall mad quick work of them

My worst fear did not happen as i was able to get the screws out the one tab hidden by the ice box as you can reach the nuts after the pan was removed :rockon

Now i just have to abuse myself enough to get the beam out I would cut in the middle BUT i am a bit afraid of starting a fire and really want to leave it in one piece to copy at the shop

If a dirty bottom slows you down what do you think it does to your boat

Good luck, man. I had a Cal 29 that I stripped down to bare glass and floor pan, thinking I would resurrect her. Deck re-coring on those boats is also a lot of fun. Most people do 'em from inside out. I had both of those problems (plus rotted bulkheads) and threw in the towel and sold her for peanuts.

Beam ejector hole and and BFH

Ejected beam

Off to metal shop and kind of of happy i passed on the 29s in better shape as everyone i looked at had the issue and it would suck to spend that much money and still have to chop it up

Thanks Pain

I got the time and the tools and the friends and a driveway to work in which makes the travel kind of Painless

Pulling the motor was much harder than the beam
