"Strange" Cal 25
Greetings:
I am the owner of a 1972 Cal 25 "project boat." There are a couple of things about her that don't quite match photos of other Cal 25-1s.
The pulpit is located about a foot or more AFT of the forestay, instead of it being out over the bow. Therefore, the jib must attach and hang outboard of the pulpit. There is no sign the pulpit has been relocated by a previous owner. Instead of relocating the pulpit, I am thinking of simply adding a piece of wire rope to the jib halyard to raise it above the railing. It is a small jib, and doesn't come anywhere near the masthead.
Too, the aft part of the "pop-top" slants downward instead of being level as in all the pictures I've seen. Repairs (not very well done) have been made to the hatch covers in the past, but don't seem to account for the slant.
I am sort of baffled by these anomolies. Any ideas or advice? Do I have some weird production model?
