Transmission Gear Ratio for Cal 2-27

I have just purchased a 1975 Cal 2-27. Is there any way to determine what the gear ratio was on the tranmission? The boat was upgraded from its Atomic Four to a Kubota diesel in 1988 and has a Martec 2-blade folding prop 12D-12P.

That's going to depend on what transmission came with that engine. Look for a plate on the trany with the model#, serial#(maybe), and (hopefully) the gear ratio. This is what it looks like on a Yanmar:

Never forget them. Do something to prevent it from happening again.
