1970 Cal29 boom outhaul
Hi Everyone,
I am the new owner of an old Cal29 (1970) that I am fixing up.
I have finished the hull, installed the engine, raised the mast and now I'm ready to take the maiden voyage.
I am curious how the outhaul works on the boom. I see a cable dissappear into the end of the boom. I figured the Allen socket near the gooseneck tightens (outhauls) it but it seems to 'lock' or ratchet in that position. Is there a release somewhere that allows me to loosen the outhaul?

Thanks for you help! Mike

Howzit Mike,
Haven't been on the forum for awhile. Not familiar with the cable outhaul. Our 29 is by a block on the end of the boom. Good luck, it should be pretty straight forward, I think...

Same here, we have cheek block at the end of the boom. Can winch it. Your's may have been a later upgrade.
