Cal 21 mast length?

I might pick up a damaged Cal 21 and it will definitely need a mast. I have searched far and wide and not found an actual, original length dimension. Fella over in DE has a 22'-8"er with rigging and sails for sale..prolly for a C-20??
Iffa mast and hardware is going to be exhorbitant, the (free) price is moot! ;)

If I can figger a way ta get it out of there and home, I might just take it regardless. I see mast/s and sail/rigging on CL often and could probably rig a similar (length boat's) mast sail plan easily enough.

It would be sweet to have the actual height/length as a starting point if I can;t find an original for the right price

TIA,
Paul

I know your post is a little dated, did you get the answer you needed? I can go out in the back yard to measure mine, but it's 3 below zero outside and I prefer not to unless you need it.

Re: Cal 21 mast length?

I don't remember the exact length of the mast, but 26'4" jumps out of my memory. I have a copy of the original sailplan drawing from Bill Lapworth and the mast length is noted there. It is the same mast as the CAL 20. I can't find my drawing copy right now, but will make an effort to look for it. If I can't find it in the next day or so, I made a photocopy for my Dad, he has it hanging on the wall in his basement.
Check out Steve Seals web site, he worked for Jensen Marine and now has a store in the Bay Area of California selling CAL spars and rigging, he may have a listing of spar dimensions. It would not be cost effective to get a new mast from him, but at least he might have the dimensions to compare with any surplus spars that you might find locally.
