Wanted:East Coast Cal29/2-29 w/beam rot repaired

I have found (2) 2-29's and both have the beam defect. I do not want to buy one and repair it. If anyone knows of a good 2-29 for sale on the East Coast I'd appreciate a call 804-239-4167.

Thanks-

Search on Yachtworld and sailboat listings

It will be interesting to see what you find as I looked at everyone in the USA with prices between 8000 and 24,000 dollars

They might have looked a bit better BUT they all had issues that were far to expensive to fix given the asking price

Seafever started at 5000 and when the full scope of the problems was understood 500 was paid as the boat was completely unusable

The only reason it made sense was the boat had a BRAND NEW SAIL SYSTEM Profurl with 150 Genoa and the Hood Stoboom and ST 30 winches

Thanks for your input. Where can I get pricing for the new SS beam? What dollar value can I use for a complete repair of the beam rot so I can negotiate the asking prices down to cover it? I would have it done by a yard-I do not want to do it myself.

If the boat has a nice head it has to be demolished to gain access to cut and remove the beam and then the rebuild the head woodwork again.

I am in the stainless fabrication industry and all my parts were done on the running around and having friends save there scraps for me to keep the cost at ZERO

I cant see the boat working out from a financial standpoint if you have to pay yard rates as its easily a 5000 dollar job and I would find it hard to believe a yard would be set up to change Cal 29 mast steps efficiently

The boats value tops out in the 20000 range as they were inexpressive boats and I found they all had very poor upkeep

Okay-I get it. Moving on unless I find a deal on a good one with the fix-doubt that will happen. These are good old boats and no many appear on the market in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Have a great season.
