Cuba Pilon?

9 yrs ago I bicycled through south east Cuba for a month solo, staying a cuban homes (illegally...but no probs). Memorable was Pilon on the south coast. The road to Santiago de Cuba afforded hours of Caribbean view. I did not see a single sail anywhere and yet the scenery and Cays seemed a cruiser's dream. Does anyone know if this area is closed to cruisers?
thanks... Gary

.

hola Gary
it is open to sailors, obviously w some restrictions such as sailing up to a Naval installation... yet
sailors on here have done the trip
further, several threads online w statistical blogs- research, as there are permits & regulations- therein the search
but I hope u enjoy that incredible coast again someday from the sea

Cuba Pilon?

Hi Gary! Sailed from Santiago to Havana alone in 2003! It was great although I got quite a few "Non se puede" as far as anchoring was concerned! Being alone and needing to sleep made the guys more lenient!
