M-18 - low RPM, Throttle hold

New to me 1987 Catalina. Uniiversal M-18. . . running, starting, no heat issues but will not rev beyound 2500 and the throttle will not hold but falls back to 2000 on it's own. Likely cause and remedy?

Low RPM

Your throttle cabel may be sticking int he housing. Take off the binnacle compass loosen th throttle cable and spray Dry Lube down it. Work the cable back and forth to spread the lube and tha shuld loosen it up. Tha alwys fixed my C30. DO NOt use WD40. you may have to ultimadely replace the cable.
