C30 plumbing questions
First Let me introduce myself, my name is Dan, from South Georgia. My 1979 C30 is my first sailboat. When I
bought the boat the water tanks were not in it. The previous owner had them, so I did clean them out with some bleach and water, and have now set them inside the boat. I do have some questions though.

1. Did the galley pump originally pump fresh and/or saltwater? I am removing it and using a small electric pump.
2. What is the best water heater - i know it is an general question - but here are some thoughts. I do not have a heat exchanger, I have an Atomic4 gas engine. I would want a small heater 4 - 6 gallon max. I read reviews about the instant on style(tank-less) marine heaters and they don't seem to work well and many have issues with them burning out. I will install it where the head holding tank is, because I am going with a nature's head composting toilet. My marina does not have a pump out.
3. Water tank venting. I imagine the tanks have to be vented, so air is replaced as it is drained? Were they vented through the "caps" on the top of the tanks? Were they just vented inside the cabin?

I do have a nice new ShurFlo pump, filter and accumulator tank for the shower/bathroom sink tank. Basically from what I have found online I will run from tank > filter > pump > accumulator tank > Shower/water heater and bathroom sink.

Thanks all,
S/V Easy Livin'

I'm sorry that I can't help with your questions.

Where you from in GA? I am from Valdosta, but am living in Biloxi MS, and will probably retire here. I am looking to buy this boat in the summer of 2012. What are your thoughts on the boat?

Most of your questions can be answered by the IC30A. Go to their website International Catalina 30 Association . You need to join that group to continue to support the C30. Also join the Yahoo groups for catalina30 and post more questions there.
