I wish I were retired, but we were happy to be in Annapolis for more reasons than fireworks.
As for Baltimore - did that ONCE and it was every bad thing that happens in Annapolis X10
Only way I would EVER do that again is if I had a slip and was not moving around after dark.

You don't have to go up to the inner Harbor to see the fireworks, which is what I think you did. You can see them on the north fork of the Patapsco, anchored and stay overnight. If you go up the south fork, stay in a marina.

It was many years ago, I didn't know any better. SailNet wasn't even a thought then, neither was the internet Early 1990s IIRC
