So, a bunch of people get together to rape, pillage and plunder for a weekend.

Now that sounds fun. But I imagine it is just a costume party...

Re: Pirates Weekend in Rock Hall

We keep our boat in Rock Hall and for years we made a point of leaving town during this weekend. Last year my sail club (based in PA) wanted to attend so we stuck around. We unexpectedly had a lot of fun. Kind of like going to Las Vegas: if you don't go expecting to see the real Eiffel Tower, you won't be disappointed.

Main Street had a couple of sea chanty groups and musicians playing traditional instruments set up on each corner. There was a raw oyster vendor from which I had to tear John away. Osprey Point Inn has a rum tasting on Thursday night.

I have to say, it wasn't as bad as I expected. But yeah, there were some women who definitely shouldn't have been trussed. We'll be there this year as the club is returning. If you don't want to see a bunch of senior men dressed up as wenches, stay away from Gratitude Marina on Saturday night.

Re: Pirates Weekend in Rock Hall

I don't get the dislike. I went to it years ago and it was fun, if a bit disorganized and hot. Rock Hall *really* needs all the visitors and cash they can get. If this helps them out, good on them. We might take the dinghy over for the poker run if the weather isn't too bad. I figure a 30 minute dinghy trip from Kent Island.

Re: Pirates Weekend in Rock Hall

The wenches were amusing, watching the dinghy parade was fun, but John is returning for the raw oysters.
