Wow, beautiful boat! Is another trip to Block Island in the cards for you and your wife?

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Glad to say we had our first sail of 2014 on Sunday morning on the lower Potomac. Beautiful day, great wind, and the boat easily hitting 7 knots. Wondering why we were the only boat out except for one fisherman checking his pound net.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

There's always a great wind at the mouth of the Potomac River - at least that's been my experience over the past 50 years of fishing out of Point Lookout. If it wasn't a three hour drive from my home I would keep my boat in Smith Creek, which is about 6 miles upriver from Point Lookout.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

I'm putting my boat on dry land until 2015. I don't think this winter is going to end. I wonder if the community college has any classes on how to raise musk oxen or caribou.

Oh hush, you got out for a sail 5 days ago!
I haven't sailed in 4 months!

Hopefully I'll fix that in a week or two.

Another beautiful sailing day on the Rappahannock River with the full family, including our German Shepherd "Black Jack":

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Wow, my hat's off to you for getting an early start this season. Great to see our family with you too!

I checked buoy data, and looks like you hit 60F around noon today. We're not that far north, but we didn't get above 40.

Whatever the air temperature, don't fall overboard. Water temps down around 40.

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

Just got tickets to Opening day at Camden Yards, home of the Orioles. So hopefully my brother, Dad, and I will sail up to Balmore and watch the O's kick off their season. Should be one of the first overnights of the year, March 31st. At least I have that to look forward to
