2014 Sailing Season

Well here's to the New Year and may all have a great year for sailing.

Haleakula had to be rested on land a few weeks ago as a late fall hitting a submerged object in Cornfield Creek seems to have injured the keel bolt under the mast. There was a steady filling up of the bilge over time and it wasn't safe leaving her in her normal winter berth in her slip.

The mast will be pulled in a week oe so to access the damage, but there was evidence along the leaing edge and one side of the keel. It will give us he opportunity to doing some work conditioning thru hulls as well as put a New steaming light on the mast. Donna has finished all he new cushions.

The Ultima 60 we put on 3 seasons ago was still going strong.

Well March 15 won't be far away.

Good health and New Years to all our Chessie friends.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Chef. I am sure you will get it all sorted out soon.
2013 was a great year for us logging over 1500 Nautical Miles in a Midwestern 6 Month Season.
Here is to looking for another 1500 in 2014.
Happy New Year to all!

Happy new year Dave. Sorry to hear of your keel issue. We had ours rebed last year. Our bilge was filling rather quickly. Yard said ours was one the harder he's worked with in 30 years. Not sure if your CB model is same. Best of luck!

Welcome back, Dave! Sorry to hear about the keel bolt; I hope it's a quick and easy fix!

Dave, sorry to hear about smacking one of Cornfield Creek's many rocks and boulders - lots of em in there, though. I spend a lot of time down there and love the area for sailing, but the black flies have taken their toll on my legs over the years.

Will there be another Sailnet Rendezvous in 2014, and if so, will it be at the same location? Just would like to know so I can schedule it on my very busy calendar.

Thanks in advance, Dave,

Gary

This is interesting, and valuable knowledge. It's not like the Chesapeake has many rocky areas to worry about.

We can use this thread to discuss our sailing plans as we have in the past.

I'd like to try some new launches this year. Maybe Havre de Grace? Or the ramp near Inner Harbor? Those ramps at Sandy Point are SO nice for single-handed launching though.
