Mitch, are you talking about the little cove north of Purdy point or on the south side of Purdy? I was looking at them both but it looked like I could get myself in trouble going through those narrows at the top of Gibbson island. I'l be in a 40' charter that has a 5'6" draft. My charts don't show but 2 buoys just before going into the narrows and nothing to guide you out the other side. Looked a little hairy.

Yep, the one north of Purdy Point and east of Holland Point. If that one is full keep going around Purdy Point to that cove.

You won't have a problem navigating the way to and around the northern tip of Gibson Island. Go through those 2 markers at Magothy Narrows and there's plenty of water beyond -- just stay in the middle of the channel until you get to the cove you want. I brave going there with my WINGED KEEL (MITCH --YOU'RE GONNA DIE IF YOU GO AGROUND WITH THAT WING!!!) I'm still alive and well. Or go into one of the many creeks branching off the Magothy. It's one of my favorite places to go, and it's also close to where I sail out of off the Patapsco.

I went over to Dobbins last weekend.. still lots of boats behind it. I anchored for two nights up Broad Creek, the next creek on your right after you pass Dobbins... much more quiet. Still undeveloped areas to dinghy too and no nettles - yet!

Dobbins has become a stinkpotter haven with people building campfires and lots of roudy drinking all night on the island. No wonder he put the fence up. You could make a mint on recycling aluminum beer cans left there.

Lots of us in our club raft up in the cove back behind Gipson Island. We refer to it as "Eagles Nest." The horse farm is scenic..the anchorage is protected from blows from the NW and NE especially. There is plenty of room for many boats there also.

A few people always mess it up for the rest. They leave trash, glass, poop and wonder why some one locks the gate. They are the ones that cant read the the "no wake" signs. no U turns and keep off the grass. But never think they had anything to do with it,

I am surprised that the new owner has not put rip rap around his 'new' kingdom. Maybe that is in the works.
