Speaking of up Spa Creek, I was dinghying (?) up there a few weeks ago and noticed moorings of the same type and size nearly to the top of the creek.. are those all under the jurisdiction of the Harbormaster?

I think the answer is yes based on my stay there a couple of weekends ago. I picked up a mooring in the area just on the other side of the draw bridge and the harbormaster told me there's another field of moorings farther up the creek. I assume that is what you mean (but I didn't bother to go up there to check them out for myself.)

Poor holding ground in Spa Creek!

I would not do this...Spa Creek is notorious for poor holding ground.

Spending the $25 bucks for the mooring is worth the peace of mind to me, unless your just headed in for a quick bit or something, then drop the hook by the Navel Academy as mentioned, but I wouldn't want to spend the night there in anything less than a 50'er

If your a Ice Cream/Gelato lover...you must go to Aroma D'Italia (just up from Phillips Restaurant) for some of the best gelato outside of Italy.

As for selecting moorings...there are size restrictions on them. Just this past Friday we wanted to pick up a mooring just past the bridge, 44' was to big so we had to go way up Spa Creek to mooring 67. You can contact the Harbor Master and pay by phone if you desire, or wait for the boat.

BTW, its a $4 water taxi ride from that mooring field, each way. We normally dingy in when mooring but this day we had 9 on board
