Good Day Sail Areas

Hi All,
My new boat is at Liberty Marina in Edgewater and I will only have probably 3 or 4 days to sail her in the Chesapeake in between doing some work on her at the marina and sailing up through the C&D Canal to Cape May June 8th.
I am planning on going into Annapolis one afternoon for the night, but other than that does anyone have recommendations for good areas to just pleasure cruise?
I really dont know anything in the area except Annapolis, so anything would help.

Buy the GUIDE TO CRUISING CHESAPEAKE BAY 2007 ED. There are a lot of places on the Bay.

Just to name a few towns and the few hundred anchoring holes like Hardness Creek, Shaw Bay, Gibson Island, High Island and Whitehall Bay. Talk to the folks in your marina they may be able to give you better advise. It all depends on what you want to do, a few boats around you or the ability to go shopping or a restaurant.

If I had just one night to spend north of the bridge, I would go for Rock Hall in the afternoon and Swan Creek to anchor for the night.

There is a restaurant called the Waterman's directly inside the main channel in Rock Hall harbor. They have dockage for diners.

Just north of Rock Hall is Swan Creek, a pleasant and scenic anchorage.

You don't have to sail or motor a long way up a river to get to Rock Hall. It's right on the bay, although there is a long bar protecting the harbor. You may have to go a ways south out of your way to round it if you draw too much water. Locals cross it often.

All the previous suggestions are good ones! Swan Creek is a great sail and a beautiful creek. Try to get some crabs at Waterman's Restaurant in Rockhall. In addition, to whats already been suggested...the Corsica river off the Chester River is a fun day sail. If you head up to the Magothy, behind Gibson Island, but go alllllll the way back and watch your depth, Hawks Cove gets very crowded on the weekends as does Dobbins Island.
If you get a early start St Michaels is not out of the question but you would probably would want to do an overnight there. Try to get to the Maritime Museum if your there.

One of my favorite places on the eastern shore north of the bay bridge is Still Pond, just North of Fairlee Creek. Its a bit hard to find and to get into (you will be so close to the shore when entering you need to watch your mast with the trees) You can locate it on the chart by finding the Coast Guard station.
