Anchoring around pt. Lookout

Are there places to anchor around pt. Lookout? I need to get away from Solomons for the night of 17th, but not too far. (ZZ Top is in town, I love the music but it will be a bit too loud, my kids won't appreciate it ). I know Reedville is down there but it's not a leasurly sail away.

You can also go into Smiths Creek which is just before the St Marys. Nice quiet spot when I was there.

thanks guys, will look at my chart tonight.

Anything would work as long as it's not too long of a sail (or motoring actually, until the yard fixes something on my forestay - can't use the furler right now) - my kids are too small to tolerate a whole day of sailing yet. We'll see how they like hanging at anchor

How about Leonard Creek which is a short hop up the Pautuxent River?

Jeff - I thought about that too, are there particular spots there that are good for anchoring? It is probably a logical choice since I really need to explore close to new home first.

I was just going to suggest the same as Jeff. I think it's about 32 miles (6 hours motoring at 5 kts) from Solomon's to Smith Cr. That could be a long day for kids that "are too small to tolerate a whole day of sailing." Also, there is no good place to duck in along the way if you decide to cut it short.

St Leonards Creek is definitely one of the nicest spots on the Bay. Very much like the Wye, but much quieter. It's one of my must do trips planned for this season.

Ditto St. Leonard's Creek. It's the place to go for what you want to do. The only tricky part is getting around Pt. Patience if the current and wind are working together in opposition to your progress. Once you're in the creek, anywhere after the first sharp bend to starboard is well protected and good holding. You can press on well beyond there, deep water quite a ways up.

Anybody know the status of Vera's?

Also, Brak, do you still need help delivering your boat?

Heh Guess what - the boat is home But I can use a crew if anyone feels like coming out to sail occasionally (my wife has other things to do with her life from time to time, but for me the boat is pretty much it ).
