HdG to D'ville

Hypothetically speaking, if one needed to move a boat from Haver deGrace to Deltaville, how many days would you allow and how would you plan your legs?

Is HdG-Annapolis-Solomons-D'ville reasonable? Consider a relative neophyte crew on a boat that can motor at 6 kts if need be, and not wanting to go overnight.

What should not be missed on such a trip if you allowed a couple of extra days?

MLS,

You could make the trip in three days, if all went well, including the weather. Without scaling it off of a chart, I'd guess the trip is about 150-160 nm.

HdG to Annapolis ~45 nm
Annapolis to Soloman's Island ~45 nm
Soloman's to D'ville ~60 nm

If you wanted the last leg to be shorter, put in to Mill Creek, off the Great Wicomico near Reedville, VA. A very pretty, quiet and secluded anchorage.

Sight-seeing stops along the way would be St. Michaels and Oxford, MD, but each would add a day to your trip.

I can do HdG to Annapolis in a day. Plannning with the tides helps quite a bit.

Are you buying a boat up here or something?

When I went south last year from Annapolis, it was Solomons in one day, then Deltaville (with the extra to go to Fishing Bay on the south side) in one day. And that was pretty much about 5 knots into the wind and waves both days.

Good luck ..... hypothetically

Theoretically, they are good guys and girls over there. I stay there in the winter. They always treat me well and give me friend prices on stuff I get in the shop.

HG to Annapolis very doable. Good run from Bay up to Annapolis. I like the HG to Herrington Bay (60M) or even West River it shortens the next day some to Solomons, which is at least and hour up the Pautuxet, and also open the possibility for Smith Creek up the Potomac which is a great place to anchor or has good marinas so you shorten the last day. I usually try for the greatest distance I can on the first day or the best weather day, with an alternative. I would try and make my last leg the shortest.
