Marina for Haul Out - Magothy River

I'm looking for a new place to a haul my boat this winter, as its due for paint, etc. I used to take it to Ferry Point, but had a disagreement with them over a job this past year (don't get me started), so I can't bring myself to take my boat back there, which is unfortunate as they are pretty close to where I dock.

I plan on doing the work myself, basic stuff, sand, paint, clean, polish wax, so I'm looking for a place that will let me do the work. Thoughts are White Rocks (although I heard "things"), Oak Grove, if I take her around the Pasadena peninsula to the Patapsco which I'm willing to do since those will at least be close to my house. Are there any others on the Magothy -- North Shore, Cypress Creek, a marina down on Grays Creek whose name escapes me -- that I should look at?

All those "things" about White Rocks are true. That said, if the owner is in a good mood you might be able to do what you need. Just ask him nicely beforehand and if he likes you - he'll let you do it (work quickly though, he can change his mind).

Too bad about Ferry Point .. good place - dont know much about the current owners.

Up Cypress Creek there is a very small marina (or used to be..) Cypress Marine. They haul.. dunno if you can do your own work. So many places are not allowing that. If you ae willing to go down to the Rhode there is CasaRio very reasonable and allows work.

I gave Ferry Point my boat for a job in February so they could get it done by April. I didn't get it back until near the end of July - so much for the summer.

My neighbor suggested Cypress Marine as well, but he has them do the work for him, and I can't get a phone call returned. He said that's not unusual and I'd have to go by during the week when they're around.

Good help is such a terrific pain to find...

If your willing to come around the point and up Rock Creek, you should call Oak Harbor Marina, 410-255-4070. SailorMitch & I have been there a while. They do good work at reasonable prices but are fine with owners doing their own work as well. Ask for Ken or Barbara
