That would be loads of fun! (of course, they'd have to time it carefully so they weren't busy serving my food while the next guy's dinner was burning)

Interesting concept....he who cooks it sees the reaction of the customer.

Would that mean you might need more than one cook in the kitchen???

cheers and happy dining!!

Catching up with some happier reviews.

A couple of weeks ago we stopped in Galesville during our planned two-week cruise that was reduced to about ten days by the bookends of Irene and the aftereffects of Lee.

The first night we ate at Thursdays. There is a nice dinghy dock to the left as you face the restaurant from the water. We found the service to be truly first rate. They were kind enough to adapt their scallop entree into a small appetizer for us to share at a very reasonable price. I'm not usually a scallop fan but these were great. We had the crab cake entree and a strip steak entree. Both were quite good. We will return to Thursdays. 4 stars.

The second night we slogged through the rain to Pirate's Cove. They also have a dinghy dock to the left as you face the restaurant from the water. Their transient slips are $40 / night including water and electricity. Communication between the office and the part-time dockmaster is a bit sketchy. The food was good (pasta and another steak) and the service quite acceptable. On a previous visit we both had burgers and found them quite good. 3 stars.

Cambridge Yacht Club

We visited friends in Cambridge who are members. We believe that CYC offers reciprocity to other clubs on the Chesapeake, and don't have the 50 mile minimum distance requirement that some do. I haven't confirmed this. The food was good. The steak (of steak and crab cake) was excellent; the crab cake a bit soggy but otherwise acceptable. Pasta was excellent. Service was very good - right down to consistently serving from the left and clearing from the right. CYC is not a stuffy blue-blazer club. It's a warm a comfortable place were the staff are well trained. 4 stars, despite the soggy crab cake.

Cambridge, MD eating experiences

This September we spent a few days on the Choptank and enjoyed Cambridge, MD. We tied up on the wall in the Town Creek harbor. Nothing like free tie up. Since we were not able to grill we did eat out.

First meal was at Snappers, right at the harbor wall. Service was just OK. Not a very attentive server. Probably we as two were not a large enough party to excite her. The big problem was the meal I had. It was a shrimp, sausage, tomato joumbalia type dish that she did say was spicy. I do enjoy spicy so went for it. Well I found it extremely hot. Tried to eat it. Clayton also could not eat it. Painfully spicy seemed over the top for restaurant food. I did take it back to the boat and added a can of stewed tomatoes, lemon juice, a little bit of sugar and salted to taste and it was a still spicy meal for two for lunch.
This was the second disappointing meal I have had at Snappers. First was a very mediocre crab cake that seemed over priced. So I am done with Snappers. Too bad because it is so close and has a great view. Rating: 2

Now, our second place to eat was The High Spot up on High street about a block from the water. This was great food and service. We had a table outside. Enjoyed a short ribs/mashed/greens dish. Excellent! I had a Tom Collins that was tart but finished with a cherry. We also shared a Stout Chocolate Cake. That was good for a few bites and was also good the next day. More of a brownie really. Rating: 4.5

Good eating!

Thanks Leslie. I updated the spreadsheet and will repost this weekend.

Our family in Cambridge has had spotty experiences at Snapper's also. As you say it's a shame since the location is so convenient.

Had a surprise last night

We were in Rock Hall last evening and found our usual spot closed so we opted to dine at Waterman's. Now we had not been there for a long time. We stopped going due to mediocre food and poor service so our expectations were low. We wanted to just get fed and get back to the boat.

I had a very pleasant meal. The service was pretty good but the crisp, Caeser Salad and Backfin Lump Crab Penne Alfredo dinner I had was so good I thought I would send kudos. Clayton ordered the prime rib meal and found it probably too rare to his liking...(probably should have sent it back for some more fire time) and not quite as tender as hoped but had a good flavor. We shared a nice small slice of Key Lime Pie that ended our dinner with a sweet and tart reward.

We both felt that it was a better meal than we had enjoyed at Waterman's for many years. Then we tried to figure out why it was better. Was it because the place was almost empty? The chef could spend more time on each individual meal? There were probably ten tables seated...no one on the deck, no band. Ah well, I think I will go back again. Would give it a score of 4 out of 5.

Happy eating,

Leslie

Valentine's Day dinner was a very pleasant surprise. Pusser's Annapolis had a very attractive deal and we decided the view was worth the mediocrity. Surprise! Janet's seared tuna was outstanding and my beef tenderloin tails was excellent. Pusser's is back on our go-to list, especially when it is warm enough to dinghy over. Parking, despite a light turnout in the restaurant, was rough however. 4 surprised stars.

We had our Valentines Day dinner a day earlier at Tersiguls in Ellicot City. Very often Valentines dinners in restuarants are set dinner menus so we avoid the crowds and pretend th holiday is the day we visit.

We dont usually eat in pricy restuarants 1- because I am in the business and see too much, 2- I can usally make the food and better (not meant to bragg here but I was trained to be a Chef and did it for over 30 years, and 3- often times the service does not meet the quality of the food.

But since my wife does not need to suffer because of my profession and not eat out in fine places I usually make a few exceptions, like when we travel or special holidays. That is not to say we dont eat out, because we do a fair amount, but usually not 4 star.

Here was waht we had a Tersigulas with the "correct" names they use

Apps
Me-Socca Niçoise-Chick pea crepe with herbed goat cheese garnished with tapendae and roasted pepper salad.
Donna-Saumon Fumé Maison-House cured smoked salmon served on a warm Bretagne buckwheat crepe with crème fraîche and traditional garnish

Salads
Donna and I-Salade Michel-Watercress, endive, Asian pears, pecans, hazelnut vinaigrette and Bleu d'Auvergne cheese.

Entrees
Me-Filet Mignon Rossini Ma Façon-Pan seared tenderloin of beef with truffle sauce and duck liver mashed potatoes.
Donna-Canard -Duck prepared two styles, leg confit and seared magret with olive and garlic gastrique, with polenta and roast tomatoes
Dessert
Donna-Crème Brûlée-Traditional carmelized custard.
Me-Gâteau au Fromage de Chèvre-Goat cheese "cheesecake" served with stone fruit compote
Wine-
David Bruce Pinot Noir 2006- Russian River Valley

Food was great 4.5 star...Service 4 star
Ambiance- Priceless. Its in a old home in Historic Ellicot City

Great destination Restaurant for a special occassion
