November 8th WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

OK, so these days won't last forever... just had to go sailing today with the temps in the 60s. On the water it was a bit cooler, low 60s. But it wasn't a perfect day on West River, the winds were low, under 6 knots. We spent the afternoon sailing at 5 knots and then ghosting along and then back to 4 knots, etc... Not a perfect day but it was sure better than sitting home in front of the tube.

Saw a few boats go out today. Spent the weekend winterizing so we weren't among the lucky few. Glad to see someone take advantage of this weather.

November 7 was much better for sailing.

Wind at Thomas Point Light was 20 knots, gusting to 25 when we were out. It was a full foul weather gear day. Saw a schooner (not sure which one) sailing downwind up the bay with many of their sails up. The navy 44s were out -- saw them in the distance under spinnaker. There were only a handful of other sailboats on the bay in the Annapolis area. Great fall sailing! Would have liked to have gone out again on Sunday, but no wind!

Yesterday was lovely here too, but it was dead calm.
I was working anyway. Maybe tomorrow.

We saw 23 knots steady at Thomas Point Light on Saturday afternoon. We had to motor sail out of our river, since we were headed right into it and had little tacking room, but once we fell off, we did 6+ knots under single reefed main alone, well up into the Severn. Below is a pic from our location at anchor, just a little before sunset.

Sunday was a gorgeous day, but as mentioned before, not much wind!

Here's the pic from Sat. evening (taken with my phone):

Yup, great sail on Saturday, even if we only got about 5 hours in

The chop at the mouth of the Patapsco was building nicely with the southerly winds

STOP IT, SELF!! Do NOT gloat!! Do NOT tell your Chesapeake Bay buddies that it was 72 degrees here in South Carolina, do NOT tell them about the sunshine, above all, do NOT tell them about dolphins playing in your bow wave.

Because if you do, they'll also find out that now you're hunkered down in Beaufort for the coming of the remnants of Hurricane Ida, after far too much drama dropping the hook. (But all's well now)
