This trip is at least a 2 day sail, even in optimum conditions, with the shorter daylight this time of year, this maybe a 3 day trip.. Assuming you have experience this trip can be done in winter (it is mid 30s right now at Thomas Point). If you are NOT experienced, this can be a dangerous trip, find an experienced crew or skipper to go with you. There is some very important equipment to take along; a VHF radio, A cell phone should be workable but NOT the primary comm tool (I use Verizon and in this same trip had coverage almost ALL the way). Plenty of fuel for your engine. Charts and Chartplotter. A good anchor and rode with some chain. Plan your trip according to weather window.
