Now I have to get the chart software out and get real numbers on mileages.

There is a nice website that has ALL the NOAA charts overlaid on Google Maps. I don't see this as a navigation tool, but it is a nice armchair planning tool.

Just to follow up. This should have been labeled solomons and then bust. After the rendezvous on 6/19 we headed south got a mooring ball in annapolis. (I guess every sailor needs to go into annapolis on 15 to 20 on a weekend with 100 or so sail boat criss crossing) Almost got hit by a 50 foot sailboat. Then went to herring harbor north and stayed 2 nights because of the front coming through on tuesday. Then made good progress till about 11 when the wind died and the heat got oppressive so we pulled into flag harbor and spent the rest of the day between the air conditioned bathroom and a pravilon until the sun went down. then we went on the beach and looked for sharks teeth. Found several and a alligator tooth. Then outside the solomons our main sail split at a seem so we have to had to get that fixed. spent a night at calvert marina and then 1 night at the Z marina did the museum and rode some bikes. Anchored in fishing creek could not swim because of jellies. Next day went to knapps narrows marina. The bust. Trying to get out of the narrows we got pushed by high winds out of the channel and eventually pushed up on the rock.
Smashed the rudder completely. Hopefully it will be fixed next week.
so ended our vacation.

Ah ha, I found it

Bummer about the sail and rudder, sounds like all is well now and you're on the way back North.

I've found that on my little ole Albin Vega 27, Herring Bay to Solomons is very doable, unless you have to beat the whole way. In fact, I've made the Eastport to Solomons trip in one hop several times. It always seems to me that the trip over to the Little Choptank and then into one of the creeks turns out to be nearly as far as the Solomons leg. Just sayin'
