July 4th Weekend

Looks like great weather. Heat gone till sunday evening. Where is everyone headed. we are as yet undecided. This is our shakedown 3 day weekend for our upcomming Marthas Vineyard trip at the end of July/ first weeks in August.. Finally got the dinghy up in the davits, washdown and mascerator pump with new blue sea panel and charger in the bow area, motor lift and all other projects completed.

Hopefully we will run into some of the fellow sailnetters.

Dave

Our boat is pronounced Hal-A-AK-ULA if you see or hear us wave or call us.

What I do know is we'll be out Saturday through Tuesday, we wont be eating out anywhere because I just finished marinating and prepping everything, and there appears to be little to no wind for the weekend.

What I don't know is where we're going? But my guess is no where too far considering the 5 knt winds predicted through Monday.

Oh well, I can handle relaxing on the hook for a couple of days

D & JE, safe travels, sounds like fun!!!

Yeah saw the wind predictions too...I am sure they are always right also...not. probably light Saturday with greater velocity as high moved away and the SW heat and humidty return on Sunday and Monday.

We plan to do exactly what we did for five days last week - explore our local sailing ground in the middle-Potomac. We will certainly be avoiding DC congestion for the fireworks. Probably sail/motor to Mattawoman Creek tomorrow morning, drop the hook, and enjoy some swimming and BBQ. We have friend who needs to be back to the dock by Sunday evening, so not sure if we will stay at the marina on Sunday night. Anyone daring enough to head to DC for the fireworks?

Sounds like a good way to shakedown the boat for your longer voyage... Have fun, may you have smooth sailing, fair winds and following seas. I hope you'll drop by when you're up in the Buzzards Bay area.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
