I'm equally willing (or even more willing!) to raft up at Jeff H's and order pizza...

My last message I had from Wayne SV/Virginia Dare, said 10:30am for start of the parade. But we need to double check with Wayne.

Severn R. Photo Op - Alternate Start.

A bleak drizzly day today, though no thunderbolts. Still... today was probably not our best shot.

Annapolis Web Cam

There was request for an earlier start from north of the bridge sailors, so I have coordinated a 10:30 a.m. start with Joe. That will mean a 10:00 a.m. hail on channel 09. I will still use 78A as the working channel and 68 as back up.

Here is the list of interested vessels: I think s/v Valinor has indicated eliminating conflicts with the back up date - Sept 26th. If anyone else wants on or off the list, post or p.m. and I will update.

wwilson--you definitely made the right call. It might not be too nasty to be on the water, but certainly not a day for beautiful photos. Good call!

Wayne,

You made the right call. We decided to make the best of it and went out sailing ( plopping) on Saturday about 11. We motored up on T37Chef at the end of the Patapsco put our sails up and preceeded to travel 1.5 miles in the next hour.

Donna and I then motorsailed down to the Magothy (Broad Creek) to spend the night figuring that if Sunday was a wash out wed only be 2.5 hours from home. Thats why they make foulies right? Got a call about 4 from Chris (Georgedog) that they had just set the hook down in Rock Creek), Alas we were anchored in Broad Creek at the time.

Great night anchored. Quiet...cool....3 AM was a deluge for abolut 4 hours. We set out back for Rock Creek at about 11 and had a 15 steady beam reach back. Was a great sail with the Admiral at the helm till we turned into Rock Creek.

Hopefully the weather is better on the 26th. We are in.

Dave

Wayne,

I see that you have a start for Mandolin. This past weekend was our only availability as we will be out of town the weekend of 9/25 so we can be removed from the list (alas). I agree that you made a good call canceling as yesterday's weather was grey and the boats (and crew) would have just looked soggy.

Thanks again for all of the great coordination.

Tod

How about a vote

Those that are interested in getting together for dinner on Saturday the 25th...

Carrol's Creek would be able to accommodate us as a party of 20 or so in the main dining area that evening at 6:00 PM. Middleton's has an outrageous room fee, forget that, foods not good enough

So lets have a vote?My Vote: Fleet Club

Thanks all for your understanding for the weather postponement.

The link is an updated attendance list: strikethrough boats are ones that I believe (?) will not be able make the Sep 26 date. s/v Mandolin has been removed.

Wayne - We're excited to tell you we're back "in" for Sunday! (We're going to do our prior committments for Saturday by car and won't be able to participate in the Saturday raftup but will join you by car; that'll let us have it all. No comments, please, on what that solution implies about the practicality of sailing)

Kids are fine at Fleet Club. We can try to get the private room, but if the weather is good it'll probably be a lot more fun outside on the deck.

And ... add me to the list of those that think you made the right call postponing this. Who wants pix of unhappy sailors, in bad weather, and bad light, taken by a photographer who's wet and uncomfortable and concerned about what the moisture may be doing to his equipment? Safer is definitely better!
