Active Captain ( www.activecaptain.com ) says, "Knapps Narrows, between the mainland and the northern end of Tilghman Island, affords passage from Choptank River to Chesapeake Bay. In November-December 2005, the controlling depth was 5.7 feet from the Choptank River to the highway bridge, thence 1.4 feet (4.0 feet at midchannel) to the Chesapeake Bay. In August 2006, shoaling to 4 feet was reported in the west channel and to 3.5 feet in the east channel. Note that the system of marking is from each entrance and reverses at the bridge. " but that is not verified.
