There was an air evacuation near our marina last weekend and it made me ponder..who picks up the tab in Md. being the fact that the air evacuations are mostly provided by Md. State Police..at least the ones around the Bay that I'm aware of..?
Here in Pa. air evacuations are provided by private air ambulances..
Who picks up the 'tab'? The insurance companies pay if the patient has insurance; if not, then there are 'charitable foundations' that underwrite to help defray the costs .... $15-20K per 'trip'.
