True. There are a few of those I've heard of. I think only Reedville would be applicable to a southern bay cruise.

I've been told the Crazy Crab in Reedville is a good place to eat but if the winds are right and the menhaden processing plant is in operation the aroma can be quite unplesant I'm told.

Urbana on the Rappahanock is a nice stop, close to Deltaville.

We did Solomons, Deltaville, Urbana, Tangier, Onancock, Solomons, and back to the Magothy a couple of years ago. If I were to drop one of these it would be Deltaville - marinas are nice, but it was a pain getting in as the channel had wandered away from the marks and Deltaville itself is pretty disbursed, although the marina we stayed in had a loaner car and most restaurants will come and get you - great restaurant in a double wide trailer, but can't remember its name. Definitely do Tangier, while its still a going concern...

I did Smith Island a while back -- it was very difficult getting in but a nice stop - not sure how the water is there now...it thinned oout very very quickly however when I was going in, right at the starboard turn in the channel. Crisfield is interesting but would be lower on the list.

We are working our way back up the bay after our first visit to the southern end. Just this morning we had our "favorites" discussion and could not decide. In my opinion from our trip:

Solomons: Least favorite because there was little for our kids to do but...the maritime museum is great.

Corrotoman: Very nice anchorages.

Urbanna: Great town marina. We anchored but paid $15 for pumpout, showers, use of the laundry, and took on fresh water. Good town for kids. The 25 cent trolley is great but don't trust the schedule (they ran early).

Tangier: Had a great time. Enjoyed chatting repeatedly with Milton Parks. He doesn't monitor the radio but will likely have a slip for most boats. Golf carts are worth getting. The southern beach is great.

Onancock: Easy channel and not as far as most trips up rivers to towns. Cute town. Nice town marina. Really enjoyed the restaurant next to the marina with outdoor seating.

Cape Charles: Great new docks at the town marina. Fun town. Kelly's Gingernut Pub is a hoot. Sunset beach is great.

Yorktown: Two thumbs up. Riverwalk is beautiful with nice beaches and the town marina has great facilities right in the center of everything. The dockmasters are the best (even with very tough competition). The town is immaculate. Free trolleys.

Last night: Enjoyed being anchored next to JohnRPollard at an undisclosed location.

So the only place we'd skip in the future is Solomons but that is probably just our bias. Otherwise you can't go wrong at any of these choices.

Chris

As did we!! Beautiful boat and lovely family you have. I'll get you photos when I figure out how to get them off my new device.

And let's keep that location "undisclosed"! Cheers.
