Snagged a nice day sailing in August!

A small victory finding a nice sailing day in August! My wife and I decided to take advantage of a decent day yesterday (Friday Aug 5) late in the morning. We could get out of our work, so let's go for it!

We were motoring out into Herring Bay by 1:30. Some blue sky, some clouds for cover, temps in the low 80s, and maybe 6 or 7 knots of wind out of the SE. We really just sailed out going mostly east on a stbd tack, tacked once to stay away from a cargo ship once we got most of the way across the bay, headed back on a close-to beam reach as the wind veered to south. Ended up the day by anchoring in Herring Bay for a while to take a nap--no use trying to get home until all traffic had dissapated, and I love to snooze on a rocking boat.

Almost no boats were out there to enjoy such a nice day--the fewest we've ever seen, even on a Friday. Lucky us.
