Re: Are you launched yet?

Lots of sails up on the Bay and in the Patapsco today as it was quite nice and warm as well as gusty at times. Was a great weekend for shaking down all the little things and getting used our "lady" again. NOthing beats sleeping at anchor rocking gently in the breeze and having breakast-- Motzah, Lox, Cream Cheese Turkey sausage with rich Kona French pressed watching the kids play and the pollen on the water.

Felt great to be back out again

Already looking forward to going further next weekend.

Dave

...and way up north - us lake sailors in Alberta still waiting for the thaw to soften the water - we often do not drop boats in lakes here until middle to the end of May....arrr !

Re: Are you launched yet?

Sigh. No, not yet. I've completed most of the work I planned to do over the winter but not all. I spent last weekend buffing, polishing, and waxing the hull per Mainesail's instructions. My arms are ready to fall off but TB looks great. One more weekend to service the seacocks and touch up the bottom paint, then I'm good to go! I'll splash the last week of April.

Re: Are you launched yet?

My boat went in the Hudson River on Sunday the 15th. Had a brief sail in sunny weather and light winds. Still way too many loose ends to clean up.

<*smirk, gloat*> We're not only launched, we've come about 500 miles so far this month, on our way back from Florida to Annapolis. Currently in NC, hoping to stop at Oriental next week for some boat work.

See you on the water!

Well not yet. Bottom almost ready, hull compounded, teak almost ready (a couple more coats of Semco will do it). Waiting for boatyard to repaint cove and boot stripes. But wait! We discover a good size area of rot at the end of the bowsprit. So now we have to disassemble our bowsprit and platform to address this serious problem. Not certain how far back this will put us. Talk about monkey wrenches thrown in the works! Hopefully things will come together relatively easily! But dang it!

Wabamum, you cracked me up! Here's wishing you a speedy transition from skipper of an LMD* to skipper of your cruising yacht.

* LMD = Large Mahogany Desk. My last few years of work, husband Dan coached sailing at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, he was skipper of what they acronymed (is that a word?) as STC - Sail Training Craft. Not to be outdone, I had to figure out what kind of vessel I skippered. LMD.
