Chesapeake bay current information?

I had an Android app called "Currents" which showed maps of the bay with the current (present and predicted) shown as arrows. Long arrows meant fast moving current, small arrows meant slow moving. Dots meant still water. You could advance it into the future an hour at a time several days in advance. I could plan my southbound trip when the flow was heading south. It was great!
I switched to iPhone and no such app can be found. I'd still like to know this information but searching for chesapeake bay tides and currents gives me lots of tables and tide charts, but the tides don't necessarily match up with the currents. Does anyone know a source for actual current information in an easily-used format? Either web-based or iThing app? I still have my Android and it still works on WiFi (apps, GPS, and all) but I can't use it on the boat. Just at home.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Chesapeake bay current information?

On the droid phone I use Marine weather pro for tides and currents
On the I pad- Winds and tides ( L-36.com)

Re: Chesapeake bay current information?

I can access this information on my Lowrance HDS7 GPS/Plotter. Tidal heights, tidal change times, currents and much more have been programmed into the device and overlayed on the charts. I'm not sure if other brands do this, but I would think they would.

I think the OP is looking for something smartphone-based. On a 17' sailboat chances are he won't have a chartplotter.

Re: Chesapeake bay current information?

Yes, My chartplotter does the same. It is hard to bring it home or below if I am plotting or planning a course in advance, although I have used the disc provided with my Raymarine C-80 on a laptop. The chartplotters are stuffed full with data and info.

I think his intention as he has a boat which does not have a chartplotter and he is he is looking for easy- handheld device information.
