What do y'all use for good, accurate weather forecasts on the Bay?

NOAA, Weather Channel?

I downloaded an app on my iPad called Windfinder that gives hourly wind forecasts for selected locations.

My wife booked us a slip at St. Michael's Marina this weekend for my birthday, but motoring across the Bay for 5 hours doesn't sound ideal on a balmy, hot July day.

I agree, but unless you are free to pick your days and go wind the wind and temps are tolerable, you have to take what you get on the weekends or take a pass, which means not a lot of boating between now and September.

Here is a resource someone recently shared with me that looks to be of interest to Chessy sailors.

Re: Forecasts

Thanks, helpful chart.

I plan on sailing regardless this weekend. Either two day sails or crossing the Bay. Don't mind light wind sailing when I don't have a destination in mind.

Re: Forecasts

The Chesapeake estuary has some interesting local weather effects. For wind speed and direction CBOFS: Surface Winds for Forecast Cycle works great.

Other than that I use current readings from Thomas Point and the various CBOFS buoys in an app on my iPhone. I start watching wind a couple days ahead of longer trips since current is more a factor of wind then lunar tide.
