What do Mud Wasps eat?

I was following a couple of wasps leading to their 'nests' in my boat and opened up their mud homes and found this..

I guess next time I wont' encourage them to stay away..other then they make a stain on my sails where they nest..

Re: What do Mud Wasps eat?

Mud daubers love to eat spiders. And, if your boat is like any boat in a marina you have lots and lots of spiders aboard. The spiders are there because the marina is on the water's edge, which is home to jillions of tiny, flying insects. Therefore, your boat is the most logical place for both mud daubers and spiders.

Good Luck,

Gary

Clay,

Fascinating insects. Had no idea that mud daubers life cycle was such. Not that it's much comfort, but as Gary says... we all have spiders. Your's are just concentrated in neat little mud packages. Lucky you - NOT!
