What would happen?
What would happen if, in my sailboat, we tried to join the raft-up at the Crisfield Boat Docking Contest which appears to be the province of motoryachts only? Would we be welcomed or be boarded, beaten, and our women violated? Is it first come -first served in the raft-up or are spots reserved for big donors? How does it work.

Re: What would happen?
Since this is a Chesapeake event, you would have to start a thread announcing that you are leaving sailnet.

I'm sorry, I don't follow you.

I'm not a raft-up sort of person but from my observations you shouldn't have a problem joining in one of the raft-ups in Crisfield. Watch your rigging isn't aligned with anything on neighboring boats and bring lots of fenders. Many raft-ups are pre-arranged from yacht clubs, marinas, and other groups. |
Re: What would happen?
If an attempt at friendly humour is "that attitude,"
I'll plead guilty. |
Re: What would happen?
Over the years I've had the opportunity to meet many of Chrisfield's watermen -they'd hang you from the yardarm!
Cheers, Gary  |

Re: What would happen?
Crashing a private party while wearing inappropriate attire. What could possibly go wrong there. Especially if you point out that as a sailor, you don't carry beer but you've brought this case of champagne....

You should be commended for your unnecessary sarcastic remark to a newcommer who may be thinking about joining or posting on Sailnet. Keep it up...more will leave and join other sailing forums which are friendlier where they dont have to be insulted when they ask innocent questions. Your commitment to encouraging new sailors to post here needs an adjustment . Dave |
Re: What would happen?
C2S- some thoughts:
1. I didn't insult him. 2. I thought you left? 3. Now I'M the reason you left Sailnet? Oh wait, you didn't leave Sailnet, because here you are, posting. Look, you don't like my attempt at humour because your attempted Sailnet suicide note/cry for attention (which didn't get you the response you wanted) was the subject of that attempt. Apparently you think I am scaring off newbies, and you question my commitment to new sailors. Since my contribution here is in question, I'm gonna defend what i bring to the table. I offered an unknown newbie who joined the site this week some sailtime. I do the same thing with any newbie nearby. I've met some great people and great Sailnet members here that way. I start threads that get 100K+ views. I answer tired old questions with info, not "do a search." What do you do? Threaten to leave, announce you are leaving and then don't actually leave, just post only to insult the site and those of us who are actually contributors. Oh yeah, and you organize a rendezvous and then complain about who shows up by PM. Stay classy, Chef. btw, who have I scared away? Seems to me the only members who have left recently aren't new, and are... you. But wait, you haven't left. |
