Submarine on the Bay

Yesterday when sailing back from Annapolis we saw a submarine out with the tankers anchored up.

I Googled around but couldn't find any info.

Some friends were driving back from the beach and said they saw it still there today.

Any clue?

Yup, I've seen that there other years, Labor Day weekend.

I watched for a while through glasses:
* There were 2 patrol boats on station and they aggressively ran folks off that strayed within ~ 400 yards, but without radio traffic. Don't expect a channel 16 reply.
* A large launch was busy running visitors back and forth, presumably to the Naval Academy. A recruiting thing, I'm sure.

Re: Submarine on the Bay

I did see two Navy boats screaming out of the Severn. Perhaps they were carrying folks across.

Every year they have some sort of Navy ship for parents weekend or some other USNA function. It has been a sub for the past few years. Expect to see one around graduation time as well.

There is a Navy weapons depot at the south end of the Bay
